Lex Fridman is a computer scientist and AI researcher at MIT, podcaster, and online public personality. His topics of research include artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicles, human-robot interaction and machine learning at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
As a youngster, Lex attended local schooling in his hometown of Moscow, Russia, before moving to the United States after high school graduation.
In the USA, Lex studied at Drexel University, Philadelphia where he received a B.S. (Bachelor of Science), M.S. (Master of Science), and a Ph.D (Doctor of Philosophy), his work at university involved the application of machine learning, computer vision and decision fusion techniques across a number of different fields, including robotics and human sensing.
After finishing school Lex worked as a Machine Learning Researcher in Google’s Advanced Technology and Projects group. The focus of his research at Google was in machine learning & active authentication.
In 2015, Lex started as a research scientist at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology where his employment continues to the present day, as of 13th September 2020. His work at MIT involves research into human-centred artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicle research & deep learning. He teaches Robotics, reinforcement of materials & AI, amongst other topics. The main subject of interest for Lex’s work is Autonomous vehicles. His research is fuelled by his interest to understand human behaviour in the context of human-robot interactions, with the aim to enrich that collaboration through the development of engineering learning-based methods.
The Lex Fridman Podcast contains interviews with scientists and public figures. Most notably was his interviews with Elon Musk, Joe Rogan, Dan Carlin, Michio Kaku, David Fravor, Roger Penrose, Richard Dawkins, and Stephen Wolfram Podcast.
Lex Fridman has also been a guest on other major podcasts, including 6 guest appearances on The Joe Rogan Experience Podcast.
